Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board
Tomasz M. Beer, MD chairs the Scientific Advisory Board of Receptor Therapeutics Inc. and currently serves as Grover C. Bagby Endowed Chair for Prostate Cancer Research, Professor of Medicine, Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology, and Deputy Director at the Oregon Health & Science University Knight Cancer Institute. Dr. Beer, an internationally renowned prostate cancer researcher and clinician serves as Leader of the Prostate Cancer Focus Group within the Solid Tumors Program. He received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland, in 1991. He then moved to Oregon Health Sciences University. At OHSU he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine and then completed his fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology. Currently, he is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, as well as a member of several other professional societies, including American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Urologic Association, American Association for Cancer Research, and Southwest Oncology Group, where he has led a number of clinical trials. Dr. Beer has authored and co-authored more than 250 articles and abstracts on prostate cancer, and is particularly known for his investigation of calcitriol for prostate cancer prevention and treatment. Dr. Beer’s major research interests include clinical trials, preclinical investigation, and risk factors in prostate cancer.
